Caroline Wise
Caroline Wise is a London esotericist whose work explores the hidden histories, folklore and
mythic landscape of the capital. Active in the earth mysteries movement since the late 1970s,
she is known for her deep knowledge of London's magical traditions and sacred geography.
Her work draws on decades of research into folklore, goddess traditions and the occult
revival. She is the author of Finding Elen: The Quest for Elen of the Ways and co-editor of
the acclaimed Secret Lore of London. In the 1990s she organised the influential Wildwood
conferences on English pagan folklore, and later became owner of the legendary Atlantis
Bookshop.
At Treadwell's, Caroline is best known for her hugely popular walking tours exploring
London's mythic and magical history. These intimate small-group walks uncover layers of
folklore, earth mysteries and magical history, revealing hidden dimensions of the city rarely
seen. She also lectures internationally on goddesses and the women pioneers of the occult
revival.
Alongside her teaching, Caroline has contributed to numerous books and journals within the
esoteric field. Her work continues to inspire students to explore the deeper stories woven
through landscape, history and myth.
