Julian Vayne

Julian Vayne is an occultist, writer and teacher with over forty years' experience exploring magic, mysticism and altered states of consciousness. Known for his thoughtful and exploratory approach, he excels at illuminating unexpected connections between traditions and ideas.

Widely known for his work in chaos magic, Julian's teaching draws on the Western Mystery Tradition, Wicca, eastern philosophy and contemporary occult practice. He has written extensively for both academic and esoteric audiences, and is the author of Deep Magic Begins Here and Getting Higher: The Manual of Psychedelic Ceremony. Together, his writing and teaching reflect a lifelong curiosity about magic, spirituality, consciousness and culture.

A long-standing friend of Treadwell's, Julian has taught with us for many years, leading popular talks, workshops and courses on subjects ranging from chaos magic and Western occultism to myth, ritual and visionary experience. His classes encourage curiosity, experimentation and direct engagement with magical practice.

Alongside his work as a teacher, Julian is a co-organiser of the psychedelic conference Breaking Convention, a founding member of the post-prohibition think tank Transform, and serves on the academic board of the Journal of Psychedelic Studies.
