About The Event
The impact of grimoires on occultism can't be overstated. Indeed, they historically provided magical folk with almost all their knowledge.
In this class, longstanding practitioner Rebecca Beattie introduces the magical books that have most deeply influenced witchcraft. Beginning by explaining exactly what grimoires are, she then outlines the key ideas from five groundbreaking volumes (the Picatrix, Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy, the Black Pullet, Le Petit Albert (containing the infamous 'Hand of Glory') and The Greater Key of Solomon). Lastly, she discusses the modern Book of Shadows – as it appears in both initiatory Wicca and solitary witchcraft. Suitable for the grimoire-curious alongside individuals looking to deepen their practice, this class is an illuminating introduction to magic, through the lens of its most important writings.
As we'll be covering historical details like names, dates and milestones, you may find it useful to bring a notebook and pen.
Rebecca Beattie has spent over two decades practising witchcraft. A Wiccan priestess of 15 years, she has a rich understanding of the history and traditions underpinning pagan practice. She also has a doctorate in Creative Writing and is a published author. Her books include Wheel of the Year: A Nurturing Guide and the pagan toolkit for navigating major life changes, The Way Through the Woods. Website: www.rebeccabeattie.co.uk
