About The Event

Discovering the Lost Gods of England

Evening Storytelling Workshop – Andreas Kornevall

How did we get the names of the week? What Anglo-Saxon elements lie at the root of many English local customs? Tonight is dedicated to revealing the folklore, mythology and old folk practices which contain traces of the pagan English gods. Andreas Kornevall, a mythotrapher and storyteller, will tell one or two of the main myth cycles of Northern Europe as an act of remembrance and as an offering to a forgotten world. He will also talk about the old English gods and their magic, including runes and charms. The night will conclude with a short ceremony.

This evening is ideal for anyone who is starting out and who would like to immerse themselves into things Anglo-Saxon from an experiential perspective. It is for all who wants the landscape to be come alive once more and hidden old gods to be known again.

Andreas Kornevall works with myth in both a teaching and storytelling capacity. A Swedish national, he grew up in South America, Sweden and Switzerland. He has spent several years volunteering with charities around the world, after which he co-founded www.workingabroad.com, a non-profit volunteering and travelling site. As a storyteller he has worked with Sussex Past, the oldest archaeological society in the UK, and he regularly works with the National Trust. He delivers lectures at Masters level to UK Universities; his events are a compelling combination of music, storytelling and discussion.
