About The Event
Two thousand years ago, temple statues in Egypt were treated as the living bodies of the gods.
In this in-person workshop, scholar of late antiquity and pagan priestex Jules McArthur explores the magic surrounding divine statues in Greco-Egyptian Egypt. Participants learn how these statues were created and enlivened in the ancient world, and how these methods can be adapted today. Drawing on a range of surviving texts, the group then takes part in a guided ritual to create an enlivened statue. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a clear framework for working with divine statues in their own magical or devotional practice. Jules McArthur (they/them) has devoted their life to the study and practice of ancient magic.
