About The Event
Communicating with the dead was an uncommon, yet important, fixture of early modern British magic.
In this in-person event at Treadwell's, grimoire scholar Dan Harms presents an illustrated lecture on the history, mythology and symbolism of British necromancy. The audience learns about a notable ritual in a churchyard to summon the 'keeper of the bones,' often identified as the spirit Azazel, who would bring forth the ghost in a dream.
Expect an evening uncovering the macabre and fascinating practices of sixteenth and seventeenth century Britain. After the talk, we'll go upstairs to enjoy complimentary wine and soft drinks.
Dan Harms is a librarian and writer from central New York. He is part of the team responsible for The Book of Oberon, The Book of Four Occult Philosophers, and Witch Bottles: History, Culture, Magic. He will be in London during a rare visit to the UK.
