About The Event
In Leland's 1899 Gospel of the Witches, the mythic figure Aradia is a source of strength and resistance for those with little power in the mundane world. The world has changed, but power disparities still exist.
In this 2-hour in-person workshop, Laura Tempest Zakroff unpacks the practical acts of magical resistance, both theoretically and ritually. Working with the idea that #WeAreAradia, Laura considers the political and activist element of witchcraft, past and present. The workshop opens with a lecture on magical resistance history from the ancient period to the modern day, investigating accessible and practical witchery (both offensive and defensive), and discussing resources to inspire practice. In the second half of the workshop, Laura leads a group ritual which calls upon Aradia to bring wisdom, protection and guidance for empowerment and sovereignty.
