About The Event

People have been requesting liberation from hexes, curses and 'the black dog' for millenia.

This class explores the folklore and methods of defense against baneful magic. Taking cues from old cunning craft, Hannah explores traditional charms and incantations for dealing with the run of bad luck often interpreted as evidence of maleficium (magic designed to harm). Covering everything from diagnosis to reversal spells, expect to walk away with a slice of history and a handful of modern techniques for the ancient art of unwitching.

The 'Old Witch Ways' class series explores the key skills requested of witches and modern cunning folk within their communities today. (They are designed to be drop-in classes so you don't need to attend all of them.) The next events in the series are: Reading Dreams (29 April), Seeing the Future (19 June) and Getting Justice (2 July). If the event has passed and you'd like to catch up, please contact onlineshop@treadwells-london.com to access delayed viewing.

Hannah Sanders has a doctorate in anthropology and is a longstanding practitioner of folk and herb magic. She was the last apprentice of writer and tarot reader Joyce Collin-Smith, and she is the granddaughter of a well-known Irish fortune teller. Professionally, she is a traditional folk singer.
