About The Event
Plato is usually best-known for his hefty musings on philosophy and as the forefather of many ideas central to occultism. But few know he created a common occult practice: the concealment of deeper meanings in the form of myth – the hiding of teachings 'in plain sight'.  Sasha Chaitow's course explores four of the most famed in this light.
13 Jan. The Androgyne and the Birth of Love                  20 Jan.  Atlantis
27 Jan.  Prometheus’ Sacred Fire          3 Feb.  The Ring of Gyges and The Judgement of Souls
Plato cannot be underestimated as an occult mythmaker, for each contains layers of meaning: the Latin occulere means to conceal, and gave us the word 'occult'. Â The myth of Atlantis is the earliest known literary utopia; the Ring of Gyges is a contemplation on human morality, and so on with each of them. The lively, richly illustrated lectures reveal their messages, but also their interpretation, impact and relevance. Â
Sasha Chaitow is an interdisciplinary scholar, an author, and an artist. She studied Greek philosophy in Athens and has drawn on Platonic thought for artistic inspiration as well as in her teaching approaches. A gifted educator, she has been an international lecturer for 20 years, with many publications on her research on the history of esoteric thought. We record the live lectures as they're happening, then post them online. If a student has to miss a session they can still see it on delayed view; equally, all can re-watch any lecture until the end of the course. The course has its own Facebook group, where people can interact and post questions. At the end, students receive further resources to help them go deeper, and also a Treadwell’s certificate.
