About The Event
The most common runic alphabet used today is the 24-rune Elder Futhark, and 'casting the runes' is a popular form of divination. Each of these early Northern letters or 'runes' has many layers of meaning. The nuances of each rune can be gleaned from medieval texts, epics, sagas and old rune poems, then embedded in the rune-readers consciousness with magical practice and meditation. Andre Henriques, who has studied both the magic and scholarly meaning of the runes, leads attendees into this deep dive. It is a rare opporunity. A personal knowledge of each rune is the goal of the course. The first session introduces them as a whole, in their historical, mythic context. Following sessions each explore a group (aett) of eight runes each.
