An illustrated guide to the signs and symbols used in non-Christian spiritual and magical traditions.

This compendium of 'pagan sigils' is a guide to the many signs and symbols used in pagan and non-Christian spiritual and magical traditions in Western esotericism. The chapters are organised thematically, from prehistory and the ancient world to European high magic, to modern traditions such as Thelema, Wicca, and druidry. Of particular note is a chapter that unflinchingly examines the many symbols of Heathenism and Germanic paganism, especially those that have been created or co-opted by Nazism, Neo-Nazism, and other modern far-right movements. In this way, Jackson's book is not only useful for seekers generally interested in the use of symbols in paganism, but also offers insight into how these symbols often have significations that go beyond the purely religious and spiritual.
