The definitive survey of the life and work of surrealist artist Leonora Carrington.

This much-needed book is the first and foremost study to deal in depth with the surrealist artist's engagement with alchemy and the occult, whose posthumous legacy has gained renewed attention following a revival of interest in occult influences in the history of art. Carrington identified herself as a witch and a feminist, and later became teacher to the film-maker Alejandro Jodorowsky. The author, Susan Aberth, is professor at Bard College and is a friend of Treadwell's.
